Data loss is a scary thing. When was the last time you backed up? Do you even have a backup? Do you have photos or other important data that’s only available on a memory storage device that just failed? Not all memory storage device failures mean permanent data loss. Under certain circumstances, it’s possible to retrieve some or all of the data that’s stored on these devices.
Steps To Take When You’ve Lost Your Data
If your device has suffered data loss, it may be possible to retrieve it. Data is typically only lost when it’s overwritten with other data. If you stop using the device that suffered data loss and give us a call, we may be able to save it.
Stop Using the Device
Power it off if possible
Give us a call or email from another device
Time is of the essence!
Preventing Data Loss
The best way to prevent data loss is be proactive about the warning signs. Is your hard drive making weird clicking sounds that it didn’t do before? Are you getting warnings about read or write errors? Don’t ignore these messages. It usually means your data is at risk. Take the time to move the data to another drive, or memory storage device. If you don’t know how, contact us and we can help.
